I picked another watermelon this weekend and finally cut it open last night. I think I was delaying it in case another few days allowed it to ripen fully. I just don't think I could handle the disappointment of another unripe melon. As you can see, I was not disappointed! I had thought they were supposed to be seedless, but apparently I was wrong. Considering that I don't even remember what kind they are, that's not surprising. It's quite juicy with just the right amount of sweetness. I have more that will soon be ready and I'm thinking I will try my hand at 'Zesty Watermelon Jelly'. Art laughed at me, making the comment, "you and your damn jelly". But I asked him what else I was supposed to do with all the watermelon. I could also make cinnamon watermelon rind pickles, but that's a two day process and Art said he wouldn't eat them.
Art cut our hay field yesterday; the third and final cut. The weather is supposed to be beautiful for the next several days and I hope I didn't just jinx myself by putting that in print... Art said it's really thick so that's awesome (sarcasm) and I told him if he packs the bales as tight as he did last time, I will leave him for good (I really wouldn't and he knows that, I just use it for emphasis).
