Home Again

Art and I just got back from a five day trip to Texas.  We had a wedding in Houston and then decided to take a few days to drive around and see what Southeast Texas looked like.  It was beautiful weather for the first three days- 80 degrees and sunny- but then cooled to the 50's (which was still warm compared to what we are used to in December). We took a round-about route to San Antonio to visit some family and they took us on a driving tour of the downtown, Riverwalk, and the Alamo.  Art and I had intended on taking the Mission Trail which starts at the Alamo and continues on to two or three different Missions, but then decided we just wanted to keep driving the back roads.  So we took a different route back to Houston, made it the ocean just before it got dark, and then flew back yesterday.

We had a wonderful time but it was hard to pull over and take pictures when the speed limit on the two-lane highways was 70 miles per hour (compared to 55 here. I just kept thinking how much faster I could get to work if I could go 70 the whole way!), but we were able to get a few.

Art's one goal for this trip was to get some cowboy boots.  We stopped at some little farm store in some little town and found some- they're not flashy with a lot of stitching and colors, they don't even have pointed toes but are more a work cowboy boot. But he found some that he liked so we met his one and only goal for the trip.
