Apple Time

Fall is officially here. How do I know this? The weather is cooler, the nights are crisp and the leaves are changing. Well, not so much changing as turning brown and falling off. We haven't had rain for over a month and I think it's hindering the beauty of fall.

The other reason I know that it is officially fall is that it's apple time! Before I left for Chicago, Art and I picked a bucket full of apples for me to make apple butter, apple pie filling and apple sauce. The apples were a little over ripe for my taste, but that's my own fault because between our trip to Canada, my parasite, and my trip to Chicago, I just didn't have time to pick them. It's not a big deal, in fact it was almost better because I didn't have to use as much sugar.
Because we picked them so late, I didn't have as many as I usually do, and was able to only make five jars of apple pie filling and eleven jars of apple butter. I still have applesauce out my butt so it will be fine.
