If A Tree Falls in the Forest...

Yesterday Pedersen Land Improvement, the company doing the land work for the shop, came and tore down the random (meaning they sprouted from bird poop) trees along the backside of our property along with the trees along the road. While it breaks my environmentalist's heart to cut down trees, the trees nearest the road were some sort of fast growing species of willow that had started to become a nuisance. With every storm (be it rain, snow or ice) more and more branches would break off, creating a walking hazard for people (like me) who have balance issues. Plus, they were pretty useless. They didn't offer any real privacy, just the illusion of privacy (much like solely participating in a passionate rendition of "Single Ladies" in your car. Not that I know anything about that sort of thing).

I'm a little conflicted about the complete openness as I feel somewhat exposed and more vulnerable to road dust which, as one would witness in my house, tends to coat everything. I'm not sure if we will plant hedge trees (something useful and pretty like a spruce or a pine) but that will have to wait until the shop is finished.

This is the pile of trees- roughly twenty feet hight. Art intends to burn it but I would rather not burn down the barn which will then throw sparks and burn down my house, so it will be left to decay. Oh, Art is telling me that it will hinder his dirt bike track. I am asking him if he would rather have a house or a pile of sand, a dirt bike and most likely several broken bones... yes, he's retracted his previous statement. Smart man.
