First Cut

This past Satuday Art cut hay. It was supposed to be sunny and hot for a week but, as usual, the weather did not adhere to the forecast. We ended up getting about an inch of rain, but not to worry, Art hadn't raked the hay yet, so it wasn't a total loss. In fact, when Art raked it yesterday, the hay looked pretty good. We decided to have first cut round baled because 1) even though I was off Thursday and Friday, Art didn't have time to bale it, 2) with the amount of mustard in the field, Art wasn't sure how well it would dry and knew he could sell the big rounds easily enough. I'm just glad we don't have to bale it ourselves; it gives me more time to catch up on laundry, mowing, weeding and season two of True Blood.
