Trichophyton Verrucosum

Peggy has ringworm. Art says it's because she hasn't been out in the sun (by the way, that's his reason for everything). I'm not sure how she picked it up, but Google tells me that it can live dormant on cow follicles for years. So far Helen and Keller don't have it, but I suggested to Art that he give Peggy garlic (as that is my cure-all for everything). Art then told me a very funny story. Most of you know that he grew up on a dairy farm in Canada. Several years ago his parents' had a bull named "Kees" (pronounced "Case"); he was huge and sort of friendly. When I say 'friendly', I mean that only Art's dad, Martin, could pet him and even then he had to be cautious as Kees would want to 'play'. And when I say 'play', I mean throw his head around and try to crush you.

Anyway, one day when Martin was cutting the seed buds off their garlic (as garlic grows it develops this bud that you cut off to allow more energy to go into the garlic bulb). Martin had an entire wheelbarrow full of garlic tops and dumped them in Kees's pen, thinking he would ration himself. No, no. Kees ate the entire pile. In one sitting. Art said that that end of the barn reeked of garlic for days. At least they didn't have to worry about Kees having any sort of parasite, fungus or bacterial infection for awhile.

Here's a picture of Kees (thanks to my brand new scanner!). When he was a calf they burned off his horns. Yeah, they're not supposed to grow back, so that should give you an idea of how much testosterone this bull had.

Do you really have two cows named Helen and Keller? That is awesome. Just like Linda. Your pet names are hilarious.
