I have been watching AMC's "Mad Men" and it is my new favorite show. This may surprise some of you who know my penchant for, how should put it, trashy television. I love my Girls Next Door, my Kardashians and my Gossip Girl (xoxo!). Now, you may be thinking "Mad Men has been on for two years, this is nothing new and we're over it" but please remember that I don't have cable so a majority of the shows I watch are at least a year behind (whenever Netflix gets them on DVD). I was pleasantly surprised by "Mad Men"; I expected sixties swagger, bad outfits and scandal that (by today's standards) isn't really all the scandalous. I was both right and wrong- there is swagger, outfits that are surprisingly fantastic, drama and scandal but all in a very understated, very subtle way (Art described it as 'dry' and didn't get past the first 30 minutes). I like TV for it's mindless entertainment value but 'Mad Men' provides something more...substantial. I always know when I have read or seen something great when I continue to think about it for days after. I spent most of Friday night, Saturday and Sunday watching the first season and I am still thinking about the plot angles and the interactions between the wonderfully developed characters. I cannot wait until this summer when season two will be released!

Mad Men is amazing, it's definitely slower. I know a few people who abandoned it before finishing but I was completely fascinated by the characters! Don is such a smarmy douche, but I love his insane wife!!! I couldn't stand Peggy, such a wet blanket! He he!! Glad you liked it!! ~ Cody
