Naughty Cows

Socks attempting a rather large apple
Socks and Betty (the cow formally known as "One-That-Is-Not-Blacky-Or-Socks") had a leisurely morning munching on fallen apples. Socks has gotten in the habit of going through the section of electrified fence that is not electrified.  Usually she just stands on the other side of the fence bawling until one of us lets her back in.  Over the last couple of days she has gotten more brave; Art found her near the garden yesterday running around one of the cedar trees, apparently rubbing off the flies.  Today she brought Betty through with her and when I went out on the porch this morning this is what I found:
There are loads of fallen apples on the ground and Socks and Betty enjoyed themselves immensely.  It took a bit of cajoling to get them back in the fence, then Art and I spent the morning putting in new posts and wire so that the entire fence is electrified.  I will say it's nice knowing that if the cows do get out they won't run around Cedar county, just to apple trees.
