Strawberry Damnation

I was packing up bags of goodies and canned goods for my neighbors for Christmas and in the gift bag I was going to include my strawberry jam. I noticed that one of the jars had some mold in it and I went downstairs to get a different jar. It was then that I found that more than half of my strawberry jams had mold on the top. I was so pissed.

I have talked to other canners and they say to just skim the mold off and it will be fine, but how does that look to my neighbors? "Merry Christmas! I think so much of you that I am giving you strawberry jam with mold on top!! Hope you don't die of bacteria poisoning! Happy Holidays!!"

I just don't understand why. I always clean and sterilize my jars before using them and they all sealed. Art said that even applesauce will get a mold on it after awhile. I have applesauce that I canned two years ago (it's still good, relax) and I just opened a jar yesterday and it was mold free. Damn it.

Oh, and the watermelon jelly never set up, either.

Screw you jams and jellies!!!
