Propane Art

This year we bought a new (well, new to us) propane tank. We had been renting a larger tank for the last few years but we wanted a smaller size that we didn't have to pay to rent.  The tank was pretty ugly with chipped paint and rust so I decided to pretty it up.

After

I think it turned out really well! I'm not much of an artist so I made stencils out of poster board. I used Rust-O-Leum paint because I didn't want my flowers to rust (plus it comes in great colors) but they only come in spray cans.  So I had to spray the paint into an old yogurt container and then use a brush to paint in the stencil.  It worked fairly well, but I still had to do a lot of touching up around the edges because the stencils bled. But it was totally worth the time and effort!  I planted flowers along the front, all of which attract hummingbirds and butterflies (they'll look nicer when they bush out).

Wow! That is beautiful! After seeing this, I'd definitely add the term "artist" to your resume!
Great job Lindsay!
(Now, could you come and pretty up our tank?) :)
