Art's Dirt Bike Adventure

On of the days we were in Phoenix, Art drove up to Cave Creek to spend the day riding dirt bike trails. Because I had a meeting in the morning and I have no desire to ever ride a dirt bike, I stayed at the hotel and basked in the sun.

Cave Creek is about 45 minutes North of Phoenix and, for a really good price, Art was able to rent a bike, gear, and gas needed to ride the entire day.  He took the camera along with him and the night before, I showed him how to use the timer, so he was able to get some really great pictures of himself and the bike.

He rented from a company called Extreme Arizona (they offer different sizes of dirt bikes, ATV's, and four-seater dune buggy things- I told him that next time we go, we'll rent one of those and then I can go, too.). Along with the bike and gear rental, Art was also given a cooler and two large Gatorades because, as she put it, "you won't be pissing it out, that's for sure."  But even with the Gatorade he still got thirsty, so he went ahead and drank from the river.  I told him how disgusting that was, but he assured me that because it was from a mountain spring, it was clean.  I'm waiting for the parasites to make their move in his intestines.

He had a wonderful day riding; there were hardly any people (it being a Monday with record-breaking temperatures), so he had most of the area to himself.  Even with the hour-long nap he took under a tree, he was still pretty tired that evening.  This trip has revived his dream of building a dirt bike track on the back pasture and trading in his old dirt bike for a larger one.  I'm just happy he rode responsibly and didn't hurt himself. I remember one of the last times he rode, we were living in Florida and he came home from a day of riding with a lot of bruises and a knee swelled up like a cantelope (he told me several weeks after this incident that he had also been peeing blood, but didn't tell me because I would have made him go to the doctor).

Looks like an awesome time! I would love to run a quad out there sometime.

Great pics too!
