My bestest friend in the whole wide world, Emily, is getting married this weekend! I am the matron of honor- a first for me and I am so excited because I get to give a toast! We started the festivities off this morning with a girls-only mani/pedi. I have had many manicures before, but have never been brave enough to try a pedicure for two reasons:

1. My feet are really, really ticklish. And not, "I'm laughing so hard I could pee my pants!" ticklish, but "I'm going to involuntarily kick you in the face" ticklish.
2. Feet are gross. Along with my many idiosyncrasies, I have a deep hatred of feet. Not my own, of course, because they are super cute, just everyone else's. I can't even stand Art's feet. Once, he had a sliver on the bottom of his foot and because he lacks any kind of flexibility (or because he's so tall) he had to beg me to help him. I did, but he said I had a look of pure disgust on my face the entire time. My issue with the pedicure is watching other people having pedicures. (And yes, I do realize that I am unstable)

So I braved the pedicure...and it was nice. They soaked my feet, trimmed my nails and gave a bit of a foot massage- all the while I was gripping the chair arms and willing my feet to stay still. All I can say is that it was a good thing the woman working on my feet didn't talk to me (perhaps because of the language barrier...) otherwise I don't know that I would have been able to concentrate enough not to kick her in the face.

The one thing that made me laugh was when she pulled out this tool to scrape off the dead skin- it was a cheese grater (or a micro grater to be specific). Seriously, I almost lost it when she started using it because all I could think was, "they could also use that to make hash browns."

After the mani/pedi we went to lunch downtown and then it was time for me to go home and get ready for the rehearsal that is happening tonight. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! The wedding is going to be so much fun and since it's two people that I love it makes even better! Also, it's not my wedding so I get to sit back and have some fun!

that's too funny--my mother has the exact same feelings about feet, and takes it a step (see what i did there!) further by disallowing any tight shoes, socks, or (especially) boots. if she can't wiggle her toes, she won't wear them. weird. just something else for you to think about next time you jam on some pointy-toed shoes...

i hope you had a lovely time at the wedding!
