Here's a list of things that are hard to do with only one hand:

  • Tie your shoes

  • Button your pants

  • Cut your food

  • Carry more than one item at a time (i.e a plate full of food and a glass of milk)

  • Washing your hands

  • Squeezing shampoo out of the bottle- sure you can squeeze it out, but on to what?

  • Squeezing toothpaste on to your toothbrush without the toothbrush falling off the counter

  • Talking on the phone and taking a drink at the same time

  • Tucking in your shirt

  • Art's contribution: Wiping your butt with your non-dominant hand

  • Loading/unloading the dishwasher (maybe that's just Art regardless if injury)

  • Drying dishes

  • If it's your dominant hand, writing

  • Hanging clothes on the clothes line

  • Welding (Although, that didn't stop Art from trying. He has the burn holes on his splint to prove it, too)

  • Drying yourself after a shower

  • Shaving (it's dangerous with one hand let alone using your non-dominant hand)

  • Using a pitchfork to feed hay to cows (this may not apply to many people...)

  • Changing sheets on the bed

  • Blowing your nose

I'm sure there will be more added to this list, but this is just what we've come up with in the last three days. As the next 8-12 weeks pass we'll add more things, I'm sure!
