Add Another to the Fleet

Here is the newest vehicle to join the fleet:

And it's all mine!

I've been driving my '97 RAV4 for almost seven years. I love that car. You can't beat it in the winter, especially. But this winter I noticed that I was losing a lot of my fuel mileage and while it's better now that it's warmer, the price of gas isn't dropping. Because I commute 90 miles a day, I spend more on gas during the month than I do on groceries- which is saying a lot considering how much Art likes to eat. We decided to find a little car with low mileage, but do you know how hard that is? Everyone is holding on to their small cars and besides, Toyota's and Honda's last forever (my Toyota has 215,000 miles and still runs like a champ). We wanted something very simple as Art is my mechanic and has to be able to work on it. We found this 2008 Toyota Yaris on Ebay (yes, Ebay), bought it and had it transported from Charlotte, NC. This is a great way to get a car, especially when your husband is a mechanic, knows what he's looking at and know's how to fix anything. While it has a CD player it doesn't have power windows or locks- it's totally old school. I'll actually have to roll down my own window and I haven't done that for, like, fifteen years. The power locks don't work in my RAV, so I'm not going to miss that.

I laugh because my new-to-me car is the youngest by far of the fleet which ranges from 1970-1997. I've been singing "We're Movin' On Up" ever since I got home.

Oh, and for those of you who thought we would be getting rid of my RAV, you obviously don't know us very well. That car is now my 'winter car'. Yep, we're that fancy here on the farm that we have cars for every season.
