New Things

They started putting the roof on the shop! It was difficult to get a good picture because of the corn, but you get the idea.

On a different note, we're heading to Bemidji this week and Buddy is coming with us. He's good in the car (at least for forty five minutes as that's the longest trip he's been on) but it's a nine hour drive; we'll definitley have to stop for a potty break. The reason that this has become an issue is because of poor Buddy's disfigurement. You see, his head is smaller than his neck. It's not noticeable until I bring it up, and then people usually say, "Oh! So it is!". This makes wearing a regular collar difficult as it easily slips over his head (it also makes him look really stupid because he doesn't have much of a neck. Even his flea collar makes him look dumb). He rarely wears a collar (yes, I know that's bad pet ownership practice. But it's not like he's going to run away because he hardly leaves the couch), and I'm terrified that we'll stop at a truck stop to let him do his business and he'll see something he absolutely must chase, slip right out of his collar and get hit by a car. Lord knows what a pansy he is so it's also a possibility that he will just slip his too-small-head right out of the collar in an attempt to escape, there again being hit by a car.

It took me approximately forty-five minutes to figure out how to put on this halter collar. I blame the insufficient directions and poor quality of the instructional pictures. It's a little big, but whenever I buy anything that should be the right size, Buddy's fat ass doesn't fit so I have found that bigger is always better. Besides, it's not like he can slip his small-head-no-neck body out of it. I then attached the brand new (matching!) leash and we walked around the kitchen. I don't think he understood what was happening, but he was a good sport about it.

I know he appears to be embarrassed but that's just his natural look. Although his eyes do seem to be pleading for help...

For future travel needs, get Buddy a Greyhound Collar (also called "Martingale Collars"). Greyhounds heads are smaller than their necks too. Hilarious pictures!
