The Worms Crawl In...

Keller has worms.

He hasn't been doing well for several weeks and Art noticed today that he was retaining water around his chest. I thought he had congestive heart failure or poor circulation, but Art said that wouldn't cause diarrhea. We called the vet and he took one look at Keller and said, "Oh, he's got worms", so he treated him with a one-time-something-or-other and that should be that. It's hard to say where he picked up the worms; he could have gotten them from the corn or the pasture. They were young enough when we got them that they hadn't been de-wormed so that could be a likely possibility as well. Helen and Peggy are fine; we'll mix in some sort of de-wormer into their food just to be sure. My idea was to feed them a lot of garlic and ginger, but Art says that too much could upset their rumens (why he didn't just say 'stomach' I don't know. I think he was trying to sound smart).
