When we visited Florida we stayed with our friends Dennis and Sue. They have five acres in Loxhahatchee, but it's nothing like what we lived on. It's like a Garden of Eden, complete with a pond, fruit trees, and utter seclusion. They built a small cabin on their property and that is where we stayed. I told Art that if I had lived in this instead of the trailer, we'd probably still be living in Florida. Now, Dennis and Sue are real animal lovers. They have a dog, several chickens, guinea birds, a goat named Prince and a potbelly pig named Puddin'. They also have a turtle named 'Turtle' and several cats. If you didn't think this was enough, they feed the raccoons and their pond is stocked with a variety of fish as well as a big snapping turtle. One night they fed the raccoons and I think there were about fifteen or twenty of them. There is even a cat door on the porch of the cabin we stayed in and every day I would put some food in the dish and the raccoons would come in and eat.
We rented a car while we were there and were able to get a Prius! I wouldn't recommend this car for short people, though. Because of the odd shape of the back window I can't see out of it. The dash is also very strange and it's odd starting a car by pressing a button. But I did love the gas mileage!
We had a wonderfully relaxing time and it was a nice respite from the cold and dreary weather!
